The short answer
Valeting is cleaning. Detailing is correction and protection. A valet returns the car to clean; detailing improves the paint beyond how it arrived and then protects that finish.
What a valet includes
A safe contact wash, wheels and arches, a vacuum and interior wipe-down, and glass. A full valet adds interior shampoo, leather care and a spray sealant. It is the right choice for a car in reasonable condition that just needs to be clean.
What detailing includes
Chemical and clay decontamination, paint depth readings, machine correction across multiple stages, then a durable sealant or ceramic coating. Detailing takes hours rather than minutes and is measured in defect removal, not just cleanliness.
Which one do you need?
If the paint looks dull under direct sunlight or you can see fine circular swirls, that is a correction job. If the car simply looks dirty, a valet is enough — and a regular valet is what stops you needing correction again.
